Holidays and Closure Periods
Holidays
Staff members are eligible for ten Holidays per calendar year: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and a Floating Holiday.
When a designated University holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday is observed as a holiday; when the holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday is observed as a holiday. Further details on the Holiday policy are found on the Personnel Manual for Non-Represented Employees website.
Closure Period
Staff members are given time off with pay between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, except in operational units where it is determined that services must be continued during this closure period. Staff members who are required to work during the Christmas/New Year closure are given compensatory time off at a later date, except Public Safety sergeants and lieutenants working in a uniformed capacity, who will receive overtime pay (time and a half). Further details on the Christmas/New Year policy are found on the Personnel Manual for Non-Represented Employees website.
